When a document in the original language needs to be legalized in another country, a sworn translation is used. The sworn statement, synonymous with the latter, in addition to dealing with the text reported in the original language, includes a sworn statement in which the professional translator swears to have accurately reported all the information in the language in accordance with the original text.
From August 2019 onwards, some essential documents, both for the Italian ancestor born in Italy and for the applicant, necessary to start the process and obtain Italian citizenship, will necessarily have to be translated into Italian by a sworn translator and this translation with handout is required. These documents are:
the certificate of non-naturalization or naturalization;
as certidões de casamento e óbito do ascendente italiano;
all documents relating to descendants, from the ascendant to the excluded applicant;
all Brazilian civil status documents of the applicant.
